About Us

New South Wales Early Phase Clinical Trials Alliance

NECTA is an early phase clinical trials consortium made up of researchers from primary academic cancer centres in New South Wales, Australia. The Alliance is always conducting many active Phase 1 trials, and welcomes study and referral enquiries.

The team at NECTA identified a need for a centralised research hub to enable the sharing of expertise and facilities. Building on the collaborative approach that was already in place between these research groups, they decided to form NECTA.

The benefits of this collaboration are:
  • Better research outcomes.
  • Wide range of integrative experience applied to the research.
  • Knowledge sharing that results in enhanced skills.
  • More opportunities for patients to join clinical trials.
  • Support network for researchers.
  • Career opportunities in clinical research.
  • Access to a wider range of facilities across sites.
  • Access to full range of clinical specialties and services.

The group is professionally supported by and managed centrally from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research

NECTA works closely with the ACRF Centenary Cancer Research Centre, the UNSW Lowy Cancer Research Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.
